Visitor Information Centre

A small tourist information office is situated near the fountain at Place Massena and another on the Promenade des Anglais next to the Casino. (http://www.nice- tourism.com/en/tourist-information-offices-in-nice.html)

Public Transport

You will find that buying a one week unlimited pass is well worth it. It is very useful to jump on and off trams and buses. Buses will take you to Cannes, Monaco, Eze, Villefranche, Menton Antibes and although a slower option than the SNCF train it works out very cheap! SNCF trains are fast and also good value; they depart from the SNCF station which is signposted from the railway bridge at the bottom of Jean Medicin (a short tram ride from the apartment).

Electric Cars

Available near to the flat to rent, you will see them recharging in their docking stations.

Bikes

Velos blues are massive in Nice – there are nearly 2000 of them to hire, and 175 bike stations. Cycling along the Promenade des Anglais is easy and pleasurable. The instructions are on the bike stands and once you have registered you have free use of a bike for 30 mins. This is the way most people use them! So you return to a bike lock and take another out for your next 30 minutes (free). When you return a bike to its stand make sure it is locked properly and gives you the cost of your use on screen – if it is not properly returned your card will be charged accordingly!

Local Shops

There is a small epicerie for essentials further up Rue Prefecture (near the Comptoir Distilleries pub) and a couple of nearby boulangeries (one on the 1st right off Place du Palais) and another behind Comptoir des Distilleries for fresh morning croissants/bread and cheap lunch sandwiches/pizzas.

From Old Nice, the closest supermarket are Monoprix at Place Garibaldi (easy by tram or walking); Carrefors Express which is larger than it looks – in Place Francois (straight down Rue Droite); or the large Monoprix half way down Aveune Jean Medicin and by a tram stop.

You will see the Nicois doing their daily shop with a shopping trolley – we have provided one if the flat for you it is much easier than dragging shopping bags around! In Place St Francois the daily fish market sells fresh catches and finishes as the fishmonger’s energy levels deplete.

Cours Saleya is the place for amazing fruit/veg/bread/ cheese/olives every day until about 13.00pm except Monday when it is a flea market.
