Events not to miss in Torbay & Plymouth

There is so much on offer in Devon in 2023, so here’s a small snapshot of events planned!

Let’s start with Torbay where our apartments at Astor House and Trinity Mews are situated.

English Riviera Airshow
This is perhaps the biggest calendar event of the year and is one not to be missed! It takes place on Saturday 3^rd & Sunday 4^th June, with breath-taking displays over the best backdrop you could ask for in Torbay. Highlights include the famous red arrow display. With world class aerial action, classic seaside fun and a packed events village make for a fantastic weekend for aviation enthusiasts of all ages. Torbay Royal Regatta
18^th and 21^st August. This fun and competitive sailing weekend includes the Torbay Admirals Cup team racing. The spectacular regatta has been a highlight of the summer season in Torquay for over 200 years and was the first yachting regatta in the country to be granted royal patronage.

English Riviera Walking Festival
22^nd to 29^th April & 23^rd to 30^th September. Taking place over two dates this new event is aimed at all walkers whether an experienced hiker or a novice beginner, dogs are also encouraged to attend! There are over 20 guided walks to choose from ranging from half a day to a full day’s tour, encompassing the stunning towns of Babbacombe, Torbay, Paignton and Brixham.

Torbay Steam Fair
4^th to 6^th August. Held just outside Brixham this three-day event is one for all the family. Come and view the wonderful working steam engines, vintage, and classic cars, lorries, military displays, market stalls, beer tent, childrens entertainment and so much more.

English Riviera Food & Music Festival
26^th to 29^th May.  This brand new four day event is full of the very best food the Southwest has to offer. Enjoy an eclectic mix of tasty dishes and high-quality local produce at the daily food market, or satisfy those on-the-go needs with a large array of food concession stands. Plus a line-up of talented chefs will cook up a storm live on stage with fresh local produce and answer any burning questions you may have! Let’s turn our attention to Plymouth now where our apartments at Drakes Wharf and Eliot Terrace are located.

British Firework Championship
Returning to Plymouth on the 16^th & 17^th August this spectacular in the sky of Plymouth Sound showcases the very best of the best! Six top pyrotechnic compete and show off their very best work and battle to be crowned the champion, each putting on an extra special ten-minute display guaranteed to leave you awestruck. Book a sea view apartment at Elliot Terrace and you really will have the best view in the house!

Plymouth Armed Forces Day
Saturday 24^th June.  This exciting day is one for all the family to enjoy and celebrates all the great work that our military do. Explore military vehicles and equipment or tackle the Royal Marines obstacle course. Chat to the RAF recruitment teams to learn more about the wide range of careers on offer, from Aircrew to Chef! Look out for the brilliant displays from the Emergency Services too. Plus, live music before the day ends at 10.30pm with a free evening concert, offering a selection of live music to dance and sing-a-long to.

Plymouth Seafood & Harbour Festival
16^th and 17^th September on the Barbican and Sutton Harbour. This free festival is a vibrant celebration of the incredible sustainably caught fresh fish and seafood on offer in Britain’s Ocean City.

Flavour Fest
The south west’s largest food and drink festival returns to the city centre Piazza from Friday 26^th to Sunday 28^th May. The weekend event will see the Piazza transformed with stalls brimming with local delicacies and a bar. With more than 70 traders showcasing the best regional produce – as well as cookery demonstrations from talented local chefs – we are hoping to yet again attract more than 100,000 food lovers to Flavour Fest.

Pirate Weekend
20^th & 21^st May. Enjoy a swashbuckling two days of fun inspired by the high seas as Plymouth Pirates Weekend, with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy!
